Bed bugs are small, oval-shaped, brownish, reddish-colored insects that feed off of human blood. These bugs don’t fly, but can walk fast on surfaces. Adult bed bugs are much flatter than nymphs and look like an apple seed. Nymphs are yellow-white in color when they are young but turn reddish-brown when they are adults. They mostly feed off of human blood during bedtime, which can cause red bumps on your skin. Some bed bugs need to shed at least five times in order to reach the maturity stage. During each shedding period, they must feed off of blood. Knowing the symptoms and the signs of bed bugs are essential in case you were to have these problems in your house. Make sure to warn your friends and family because they may have these problems as well, especially since bed bugs can get into your furniture. Where Do Bed Bugs Hide?

Signs and Symptoms of Bed Bug Bites

They are the most active during nighttime and you may not even know you are getting bitten by one. The signs of a bed bug bite is when there is a reddish-brown colored bump as small as an apple seed. Some of the symptoms of a bed bug bite are a burning sensation, red bumps with blisters surrounding them, or a raised itchy bump. Other symptoms may also include sleep deprivation and decreased wellbeing. More serious symptoms are difficulty breathing, irregular heartbeat, swollen tongue, flu-like symptoms, or a fever. Bed Bug Prevention

Some of the best ways to prevent bed bugs is to vacuum regularly and do not store anything under your bed. Make sure you don’t pile up your clothes in your room and wash your clothes after coming home from vacation. Wash your bed sheets at least once a week and keep all your belongings off of the floor. If you do this regularly, chances are that you won’t see any signs of bed bugs around the house. It is crucial to live in a sanitary environment to help prevent bed bugs.
